Hot Option Plays: Market Down But Not Out After Hours

Cusick’s Corner 03-25-2013 Midday
While the selling seemed to have caught quite a few traders off guard, the market just chopped around for the remainder of the After Hours, with the S&P bound around 1450 & 1454. I did not like the close in the Transports, IYT -1%, which puts the onus on the longs to step up or doubt could potentially increase at this stage. Watch 1448 on the S&Ps as the next challenge area for the bulls and bears. See you Midday.

Global investors had to muster the courage to keep calm as news of Cyprus' proposed partial theft of all bank deposits took Wall Street by surprise, closed the country's banks and drove the price of gold higher.
The thoughtless idea was intended to capture a portion of the $31 billion in bank assets held by Russians. According to the Financial Times, Cyprus has developed a "well-earned reputation for being a haven for dirty money from Russia."

Hot Option Plays: The Old Adage – Buy The Rumor, Sell The News Midday

Cusick’s Corner 03-25-2013 Midday
The situation in Cyprus appears to be resolving (shifting the burden to depositors who have accounts above 100K Euros, which I guess is a good example of why parking money in small offshore banks has its risks). It will be interesting to see how Russia (RSX), who had the most exposure to this situation, will react to this deal that the Germans crafted for Cyprus. There are many storylines that will start to pop up but the markets at this stage hit resistance … [visit DailyMarkets.com to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards or Best Credit Cards

How might what unfolds there impact other nations in the EU if not elsewhere in the world as well? Will the bailout and associated bail-in of the Cypriot banking system ultimately be a deal which precipitates the … [visit DailyMarkets.com to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards or Best Credit Cards
