How To Beat The Other Guy On WallStreet

Posted: 30 Jan 2013 03:25 PM PST

The investor has to have a different mind set than the common man. If you are going to beat the street you have to think black when ever one else is thinking white. To do this you need a tool shed that allows you to think in this manner.

This video is along the same lines, but is bagging economists via another economist at Punk Economics

Hot Option Plays: Is Pullback Healthy? After Hours

Posted: 30 Jan 2013 03:18 PM PST

Cusick’s Corner 01-30-2013 After Hours
The Fed spoke and the market pulled back. The market indices did try to challenge new highs right after the Midday, but the Dow, DJX, and the S&Ps, SPX, were able to hold these gains post the Fed. Really, this does make sense because we have had huge moves and the market was looking for a point to take a rest. I will be keeping an eye on the Small Caps, IWM, to see if this becomes a deeper pullback, i.e. if it breaks $87 which is a level that it … [visit DailyMarkets.com to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards or Best Credit Cards

KeyCorp (NYSE:KEY) is on the verge of a breakout. The stock has been holding at support $9.07 but facing resistance at $9.50. I wouldn’t be surprised if this stock finally gives investors what they have been waiting for. KEY will move very quickly, so keep a very close eye on the stock.

New Zealand Holds Rate, Keeping Eye On Inflation Risks

Posted: 30 Jan 2013 12:42 PM PST

New Zealand’s central bank held its Official Cash Rate (OCT) steady at 2.5 percent, as expected, saying inflation remains subdued but it expects economic growth to strengthen during the year and it was keeping an eye on house price inflation and household credit for signs of inflation risks.
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ), which has held its rate steady since March 2011, said global growth was set to recover this year and financial markets were accordingly … [visit DailyMarkets.com to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards or Best Credit Cards

U.S. Federal Reserve Holds Rate, $85 Bln Asset Purchases

Posted: 30 Jan 2013 11:59 AM PST

The Federal Reserve held the target for its benchmark federal funds rate unchanged at 0-0.25 percent and maintained its monthly purchases of $85 billion of mortgage-backed securities and longer-term Treasury bonds, saying the expansion in U.S. economic activity had paused in recent months, mainly due to weather-related disruptions and other temporary factors.
The Federal Reserves’s monetary policy committee, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), also said it … [visit DailyMarkets.com to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards or Best Credit Cards

Fourth Quarter GDP: It’s Just A Number

Posted: 30 Jan 2013 11:35 AM PST

Okay, so the negative 0.1 percent real GDP number surprised me, even though I was expecting weakness. After arguing that recent GDP numbers were worse than the headline, primarily because of inventory accumulation, I'm happy to report the opposite this time around. Without inventory runoff, the number would have been up 1.1 percent, still not good, but not negative.
The decline in exports, partially offset by a smaller decline in imports was not good, both in terms of our own trade … [visit DailyMarkets.com to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards or Best Credit Cards

Hot Option Plays: Narrow Range Midday

Posted: 30 Jan 2013 11:17 AM PST

Cusick’s Corner 01-30-2013 Midday
The data was mixed, ADP was up but the GDP was down. Now this might have been telegraphed by the Consumer Confidence data yesterday, but is does put the spotlight firmly on the Fed announcement and statements. The market is grinding a little lower but has firmed into the Midday which is somewhat positive for the longs and could be a squeeze opportunity on the shorts if the Fed announcement is status quo. See you After Hours.
Market action is mixed again … [visit DailyMarkets.com to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards or Best Credit Cards
