Hot Option Plays: What Would Little Annie Do?

Posted: 01 Jun 2012 04:28 PM PDT

Cusick’s Corner 06-01-2012
In the infamous words of Annie, “Just thinkin’ about Tomorrow, clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow – ’til there’s none!” Now I do not know if I am betting my “bottom dollar there’ll be sun” early next week but every Fed official and central banker in the world will be asked what they will do to stop this. Now whether or not government intervention is right or wrong, traders need to be indifferent and prepare for the choppy nature of this market only to potentially … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

Monetary Policy Week In Review – 2 June 2012

Posted: 01 Jun 2012 03:57 PM PDT

The past week in monetary policy saw interest rate decisions announced by 8 central banks around the world.  Those that altered interest rates were: Brazil, cutting 50 basis points to a low of 8.50%; Denmark, trimming a further -15bps to 0.45%; and Uganda dropping -100bps to 20.00%.  Meanwhile the central banks that held interest rates unchanged were: Hungary 7.00%, Turkey 5.75%, Zambia 9.00%, Colombia 5.25%, and Israel 2.50%.  Elsewhere in monetary policy, the Central Bank of … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

6 Trade Setups To Watch Next Week

Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE:DUK) Stock price blasted up and out of its week trading range, closing the day near the highs. From a technical standpoint, I believe we are due for a retrace lower here partly due to the overbought conditions. So if that happens we will watch support in the 10 day MA for price action buy signals to re-join the fresh bullish momentum in this stock.

So Much For The Facts

Posted: 01 Jun 2012 01:41 PM PDT

In “Obama Says Economy Will ‘Come Back Stronger,’” the Associated Press reports that our President remains optimistic despite today’s “unexpected” bad news:
President Barack Obama says the May jobs report shows that the economy is not creating jobs “as fast as we want” but vows that the economy will improve.
Obama says, “we will come back stronger. We do have better days ahead.”
Not sure what he’s basing that on, since the people who probably know best — those who operate on the economy’s … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

Hot Option Plays: Level Holds

Posted: 01 Jun 2012 01:22 PM PDT

Cusick’s Corner 05-31-2012
May is over and I don’t believe that many traders have walked away in spite of the worst month in two quarters. As I have been noting this week, the market was watching support, 1300 on the S&Ps — this level held and bounced into the After Hours, finishing well off the lows. The Labor Department’s Jobs data is going to be the driver tomorrow and this choppy range of 1300-1330 on the S&Ps has been tough to break so far. See you Midday.

Hot Option Plays: Ugly

Cusick’s Corner 06-01-2012
You can read about the Jobs data below and while it was not a horrible number, it was well below expectations, placing all the major indices under pressure. Right now, most indices and sectors are retracing about 38% of the October through May peak. You are also seeing the leading sectors, Consumer (XLY), Financials (XLY), which have been the laggards over the last few weeks with still no buying pressure at this stage. Here’s what some traders are still waiting … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

Sold NUGT @ $12.80 – US Dollar: How Overbought?

Posted: 01 Jun 2012 01:22 PM PDT

I was fortunate today to sell my position in Direxion’s Gold Miners Bull 3X ETF (NUGT) for $12.80. This trade resulted in a gain of 45.45% and is, as best I can tell, the largest single trade gain I have logged since starting this website a couple of years ago. A very nice way to conclude the last day of my 30th year as a public school teacher.

Energy Milestone: Gas Rig Share Falls Below 30%

Posted: 01 Jun 2012 11:27 AM PDT

In response to natural gas prices falling to inflation-adjusted multi-decade low levels over the last several years, along with high oil prices, there has been an ongoing switch in drilling activity from natural gas to oil, as can be seen in the chart above of rig shares.  Now a new milestone has been reached.  For the first time since Baker-Hughes started tracking the rig split between oil and gas in 1987, the share of active rigs drilling for natural gas fell below 30% last week … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

The Golden Wealth Of Turkey

Posted: 31 May 2012 10:00 PM PDT

When I talk about the Love Trade, India and China are frequently discussed since the two countries have been dominating world jewelry demand. Turkey's love for gold, though, cannot be overlooked, as an estimated 5,000 tons have been accumulating in people's homes for years.

Turkey is now offering incentives for people to store their gold in the bank instead. By acknowledging the hidden wealth of the Eastern European nation, this move will allow banks to lend more money and ultimately … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards
