Forex Trading: USD/CAD Testing 200 Hour Moving Average

Posted: 05 Mar 2012 03:17 AM PST

The pair has traded continually higher through out the night as we have seen risk aversion in the market correlating with lower equities in Asia, Europe, and the Dow currently poised to open lower as well. Currently the USD/CAD is testing the 200 hour moving average with a full hourly retracement at .99845 being the next bullish … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

Forex Trading: EUR/USD Rebounding After Finding Daily Support.

Posted: 05 Mar 2012 02:23 AM PST

We saw chopping trading early in the night until the pair hit a low of 1.3159 following a worse than expected final services PMI out of the Eurozone; this level being the 38.2% fibo line on the daily chart.

Since then, we have seen some rebounding following a better retail sales number; testing the 100 bar moving average on the 15 minute chart. If we run into resistance here we look back to 1.3159 at the target; 1.3211/1.3222 to the … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

Momentum Stock: Corrections Corp Of America

Posted: 04 Mar 2012 11:00 PM PST

Corrections Corp of America (CXW)
I remember attending a investment conference last summer and one of the best presentations I heard discussed was the corrections industry and how it was a smart and uncommon place to put your money.
CXW was one of the top selections for its steady growth and defensive nature of its business.  Economies may ebb and flow, but the number of incarcerated Americans is steadily growing according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Back in November, 2011 one of … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

Lorillard Inc.’s (NYSE:LO) fourth-quarter and fiscal 2011 earnings exceeded both the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 12.2% and 3.0%, and the prior-year earnings by 26.4% and 16.2%, respectively. The company’s results continued to outperform in terms of volume and retail shipments, despite a difficult macro-economic environment.

Bear Of The Day: Westamerica Bancorp (WABC)

Posted: 04 Mar 2012 11:00 PM PST

We are downgrading our long-term recommendation on Westamerica Bancorp (NASDAQ:WABC) from Neutral to Underperform based on weak fourth-quarter results and an overall sluggish economic environment. The company’s fourth quarter 2011 earnings slightly missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate.
Results were negatively impacted by reduced revenues, partially offset by lower non-interest expenses. The company’s credit quality continued to show improvement in the quarter. We believe that a weak interest rate … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

Forex Trading: USD Advances Vs. CNH

Posted: 04 Mar 2012 07:17 PM PST

A 7.5% growth forecast from China for 2012 (an 8 year low projection) has helped push the USDCNH pair back toward February highs (as well as the fix.) Depending on how Europe and the US markets interpret these estimates could go a long way toward determining what kind of legs this bid could have particularity if the February levels are broken. Note December highs at 6.42 … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

Matt Ridley On The “Wind Farm Scam”

Posted: 04 Mar 2012 06:38 PM PST

From Matt Ridley’s new cover story in The Spectator, “The Winds of Change”:

“To the nearest whole number, the percentage of the world's energy that comes from wind turbines today is: zero.

Despite the regressive subsidy (pushing pensioners into fuel poverty while improving the wine cellars of grand estates), despite tearing rural communities apart, killing jobs, despoiling views, erecting pylons, felling forests, killing bats and eagles, causing industrial accidents, clogging … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

Residential Natural Gas Prices: Lowest In A Decade

Posted: 04 Mar 2012 05:39 PM PST

In a recent speech, Obama mocked the “drill, drill, drill” strategy, and called it a “bumper sticker,” not a real solution to high prices at the pump.  Well, the drill, drill, drill strategy seems to be having quite an effect on residential natural gas prices, which just fell to an inflation-adjusted ten-year low in December, according to new data from the EIA (see chart above, adjusted for inflation using the CPI).  At $9.69 per thousand cubic feet in December, residential customers … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards

The Optimistic View Of Europe

Posted: 03 Mar 2012 12:02 AM PST

Forget about the alligators. Let’s talk about draining the swamp. There is a way out of this quagmire for Europe. Ken Rogoff, in an interview with Der Spiegel, believes that political integration (or a “United States of Europe”) is closer than anyone expects:
SPIEGEL: Do you honestly believe that the countries in the euro zone can bring themselves to hand over that much more power to Brussels?

Rogoff: The terrible thing is that few countries in Europe seem genuinely prepared for that. Those … [visit site to read more] or compare Credit Card Rewards and Best Credit Cards
