New Home Sales rose by 1.6% in November from October, to a rate of 315,000. Relative to a year ago, sales are up 9.8%. While the monthly increase is more than welcome, it is still a very dismal rate of new home sales.

Crude Oil Futures Firm On U.S. Housing Data

Forexpros – Crude futures rose Friday, as healthy data for home sales and durable goods suggested the U.S. economy is moving further along its path to recovery.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, light, sweet crude futures for delivery in February traded at USD99.95 a barrel midway through the session, up 0.43%.

The commodity hit a session high of USD100.23 and a low of USD99.25 so far in early U.S. trading Friday.

Forexpros – The euro fell against the dollar Friday as investors snapped up greenback positions on robust new home sales data in the U.S., which fueled already rising optimism for the world’s largest economy in 2012.

EUR/USD hit 1.3044 during in U.S. trading, down 0.05%, comfortably hovering between a session low of 1.3027 and a high of 1.3096.

The pair was likely to find support at 1.2983, Monday's low, and resistance at 1.3196, Wednesday's high.

Forexpros – European stocks closed higher on Friday as bullish U.S. economic data eased euro zone crisis fears.

After the close of European trade, the EURO STOXX 50 climbed by 0.69%, France’s CAC 40 gained 0.84%, while Germany’s DAX 30 traded higher by 0.47%. Meanwhile, in the U.K. the FTSE 100 soared 1.02%.
