Best has affirmed the issuer credit rating (ICR) of "bbb+" and debt ratings of "bbb+" on $250 million 6.875% senior unsecured notes, due 2012 and "bbb-" on $300 million 6.900% junior subordinated debentures, due 2067 of StanCorp Financial Group (NYSE:SFG). However, the rating agency has downgraded the outlook to negative from stable. |

Durable Goods Orders Up In May Posted: 24 Jun 2011 12:35 PM PDT New Orders for Durable Goods rose 1.9% in May. That was above consensus expectations of an increase of 1.5%. In addition, the April numbers were revised upwards. It was first reported as a decrease of 3.6%, but now they say new orders fell "just" 2.7%. Durable goods orders are a volatile series, and it is not uncommon for a big gain in one month to be followed by a decline the next. Still, these numbers are good news. In it, he gives many telling examples of outcomes that don't make sense because the powers that be keep trying to make rules and laws impervious to human interpretation and implementation. They don't trust people to apply common sense so that try to make it unnecessary by writing the rules so detailed as to cover all circumstances. |
