ECB Hawkish Tone Keep Euro Moving Higher

Posted: 05 Mar 2011 02:16 AM PST

The main event in the currency markets this week was the statement issued by the ECB, alerting markets participants that inflation was moving up at an unacceptable rate, and the ECB was not going to sit on the sidelines waiting for growth to gain traction before it began to fight inflation.
European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet signaled that the central bank could raise interest rates next month for the first time since the financial crisis in 2008. Mr. Trichet warned that risks … [visit site to read more] or compare Best Credit Cards and Best CD Rates

Oil Prices Surge To New 2 Year Highs

Posted: 05 Mar 2011 02:15 AM PST

Currency market participants were focusing on the implication of ECB's Trichet comments yesterday. The reference to "strong vigilance" and explicit refusal to indicate that "rates are appropriate" are understood as powerful signals of the ECB's intent to raise rates as early as next month.
Today, the Swiss franc pushed back from a two-week low against the euro and rose against the dollar after Swiss National Bank Vice-Chairman Thomas Jordan said low interest rates were not … [visit site to read more] or compare Best Credit Cards and Best CD Rates

Forex Forecast For The Week Of March 7, 2011

Posted: 05 Mar 2011 02:13 AM PST

EUR/USD

The EUR/USD enjoyed a massively bullish candle this past week, and has stopped just at the 1.40 handle. This area has served as a support and resistance area historically, and appears ready to do so again. The bullish bar broke through all hints of resistance at the 1.38 level and appears to be primed for a small pullback, followed by a run all the way to 1.45 and 1.50 before it's all said and done. Of particular interest will be the ECB's statement after April's … [visit site to read more] or compare Best Credit Cards and Best CD Rates

Forex Forecast For March 7th, 2011

Posted: 05 Mar 2011 02:10 AM PST

EUR/USD

Looking at the EUR/USD daily chart, you can see that we reached our projected 1.40 mark on better than expected employment numbers this past Friday. Once the pair broke above the 1.38 mark, we suggested that 1.40 would be the next target. However, there is a bit of resistance at the 1.40 level, and a pullback is certainly possible.
Any pullback should find support at the 1.38 mark, as it was heavy resistance before. Any bullish bar at that level would suggest that we are … [visit site to read more] or compare Best Credit Cards and Best CD Rates

The February Employment Report Was Good News

Posted: 04 Mar 2011 06:56 PM PST

Even though buy on the rumor and sell on the news is standard, I think the market is once again under-rating the good news in the February employment report.  The headline employment growth number of plus 192,000 was not bad, especially when you add in the additions of 58, 000 from December and January. However, the household employment increase of 250,000 jobs was very good, especially after the fantastic increase of 589,000 in January. Household employment expansion has produced a … [visit site to read more] or compare Best Credit Cards and Best CD Rates

From the foreword of the report “WOMEN IN AMERICA: Indicators of Social and Economic Well-Being” released this week by the White House:

“The White House Council on Women and Girls was created by President Obama in early 2009 to enhance, support and coordinate the efforts of existing programs for women and girls. Stock Market Summary For Friday, March 4, 2011

Posted: 04 Mar 2011 04:49 PM PST

Stocks overlooked decent economic data today to finish lower. The selling could have been worse but late in the session stocks were able to come off their lows. Market breadth was negative but participation did not give an indication investors were selling shares heavily. Staying with the trend we are lowering the support/resistance levels on the DJIA and S&P 500 (see below). For the Nasdaq Composite we are actually raising its support level slightly but lowering its resistance level (see … [visit site to read more] or compare Best Credit Cards and Best CD Rates
