Here is the real story behind the job numbers:

The official unemployment rate in the U.S. fell from 9.4% in December to 9.0% in January. This is the figure that got the media all … [visit site to read more] or compare Best Credit Cards and Best CD Rates

When Is It Time To Short The US Dollar, Stock Market And Gold?

Posted: 07 Feb 2011 08:22 AM PST

It has been my contention all along that the Fed would print until something breaks. Once that break occurs we will enter the next leg down in the secular bear market. This time I don’t expect it to be the credit markets, although we will almost certainly have trouble in the municipal and state bond markets. Some may even default.

I actually think the greater risk is from massive layoffs by state and local governments in an effort to cut expenses and avoid default. When that begins we … [visit site to read more] or compare Best Credit Cards and Best CD Rates

Bond Rout Continues Ahead Of Supply

Posted: 07 Feb 2011 07:54 AM PST

Treasury yields have climbed slowly to a nine-month high, muscling spreads wider as the curve steepens. As ever, a good deal of supply is on the cards this week and as always bond traders are leaning on bonds in an effort to buy in to weakness throughout the auction process. In Europe the lack of accord at the weekend meeting has left peripheral yields scurrying higher as the prospect of a strengthening of the stability fund remains way off in the distance.

USD/CAD

- The USD/CAD has declined to the January low near 0.9837, and cracked below that. There is a bullish divergence spotted in the 4H chart, and as USD/CAD has always been a choppy pair, we can expect a rally in the short-term from this important support.
