Why The Coming Debate Over Spending Cuts Has Nothing To Do With Reviving The Economy

Posted: 13 Feb 2011 11:57 AM PST

President Obama has chosen to fight fire with gasoline.

Republicans want America to believe the economy is still lousy because government is too big, and the way to revive the economy is to cut federal spending. Today (Sunday) Republican Speaker John Boehner even refused to rule out a government shut-down if Republicans don't get the spending cuts they want.

Tomorrow (Monday) Obama pours gas on the Republican flame by proposing a 2012 federal budget that cuts the federal deficit by $1.1 … [visit site to read more] or compare Best Credit Cards and Best CD Rates

Posted: 13 Feb 2011 11:40 AM PST

There's been talk escalating this week in Washington about offering U.S.-based multinational companies a tax break to bring home their earnings from foreign subsidiaries.

It's well known that the U.S. is sitting in an unsustainable fiscal situation with a record budget deficit and record debt levels. That's put the country in a vulnerable position, well in the path of a spreading global sovereign debt crisis.

Last Sunday was, of course, "Super Bowl Sunday," that uniquely American event that has taken on legendary status since its inception some 45 years ago.  Dubbed the "World Championship" in a sport that is played only in America, the hype is equally magnified as the week builds up towards the climactic game on Sunday afternoon which is a combination of Hollywood entertainment, great excuse for a party and sometimes even a good football game.
The Caesars in ancient Rome used to … [visit site to read more] or compare Best Credit Cards and Best CD Rates
