Leading independent energy company Apache Corporation (NYSE:APA) announced that it has started producing hydrocarbon at its Balboa Field in the Gulf of Mexico ("GoM"), south of Galveston, Texas. This happens to be the first deepwater production in the Gulf region since the oil spill accident.

The Gap Inc. (NYSE:GPS) reported a decline of 3% in same-store sales for the five-week period ending January 2, 2010. Results substantially lagged a 2% growth in December 2009.

SM Energy (NYSE:SM) set its 2011 capital budget and provided the production guidance, which is 20% higher than 2010's level.
