Forex – EUR/USD Erases Losses, Rises To Fresh 9-week High

Forex Pros – The euro erased earlier losses against the U.S. dollar on Monday, turning higher as markets refocused on remarks by European Central Bank president Jean-Claude Trichet that the bank could hike interest rates to combat inflation.

EUR/USD clawed back up from 1.354, the daily low to hit 1.3658 during European late afternoon trade, gaining 0.26%.

The pair was likely to find support at 1.354, the days low and resistance at 1.3785, the high of November 22.

The USDCHF is moving lower in reaction to the lower dollar in NY trading. Bombing in Moscow has led to a flight to safety and the CHF seems to be a currency in demand.  The pair is looking to test the next target support at the 0.9484 level which is the 61.8% of the  move up from the end of December low to the high reached on January 11th.

Irish food group Greencore Group (LON:GNC) was today pondering whether to bolster its offer to merge with Northern Foods (LON:NFDS) after being trumped on the deal late last week by Boporan Holdings.
