Regional Banks Plan TARP Repayment Posted: 14 Dec 2010 12:05 PM PST Regional banks are gearing up to repay the bailout money received under the U.S. Government's Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). Yesterday, two regional U.S. banks – Huntington Bancshares Inc. (NASDAQ:HBAN) and First Horizon National Corp. (NYSE:FHN) announced their capital raise plans in this context. It comes roughly after a year when biggies such as Bank of America Corp (NYSE:BAC) and Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) went for capital raises through stock offering to repay the TARP loan. |
Canadian Solar Teams With SkyPower Posted: 14 Dec 2010 12:05 PM PST Canadian Solar Inc.(NASDAQ:CSIQ) is teaming up with SkyPower Limited, for constructing two solar parks with a nameplate capacity of 18.5 megawatts (MW) in Ontario, Canada. Financing for the projects will come from Deutsche Bank AG (NYSE:DB). The first project is a 10.5 MW solar park in Napanee while the second project is an 8.5 MW solar park located in Thunder Bay. Canadian Solar expects to finish work on the projects by mid-2011. |
Posted: 14 Dec 2010 12:05 PM PST The Producer Price Index (PPI) for finished goods rose at a much higher than expected rate of 0.8% in November on a headline basis. The consensus had been looking for a 0.5% increase. This was due to higher food, and especially energy prices. Stripping out the volatile food and energy prices, the core PPI rose 0.3%, just slightly above expectations of a 0.2% increase. That came on the heels of a 0.6% drop in core prices in October.
