Happy New Year: Thanks to some great bloggers Posted: 28 Dec 2010 02:00 AM PST Recently on my site (www.WealthWebGurus.com), I publicly thanked Tom for asking me to write for Canadian Finance Blog and I summarized all of the posts I contributed to this blog. It's been a lot of fun writing regularly again. Earlier this year, Tom helped me make the switch from writing articles for the mainstream papers to blogging on the web and in doing so, he introduced me to some fantastic bloggers. Back in April 2010, I wrote about some of the bloggers I was most impressed with. After a year of blogging myself, I think the original list was pretty good. Here's my revised list of the Best Bloggers who have been really helpful in my endeavours Old faithful bloggersCanadian Capitalist – I've been reading Canadian Capitalist for quite some time now and for the past year I have gotten to dialogue with Ram, the man behind Canadian Capitalist. I am especially thankful to Ram because he was very kind in supporting my book 10 Things I Wish Someone Told Me About Retirement this year with a review. MoneySmartsBlog – Formerly Four-Pillars.ca, this site is run by Mike Holman who released his first book this year called The RESP Book. This book is a real testament of how a book can go viral when bloggers help each other. There was a time when he had two or three book reviews a day from not only other bloggers but also the mainstream media. Mike a very active blogger who has some terrific content. Canadian Finance Blog – No surprise here but Canadian Finance Blog is not on this list just because I write for the site but it has amazing presence because of it's great content. Tom really understands the art of blogging. Balance Junkie – Kim, the woman behind Balance Junkie has one of the best writing styles on the web. She not only artfully crafts all of her content but she is one of the best at engaging with her readers. Every time, I comment on her blog, I know I will get a thoughtful response. Big Cajun Man – I've gotten to know the man behind Canadian Personal Finance Blog more by following him on Twitter (@bigcajunman). He's got great content and a fun sense of humour. Well worth following him. Financial Highway – Financial Highway has assembled a great line up of bloggers including Ray, Miranda and Kathryn. Another great site with great articles and content. Before You Invest – What originally caught me with Before You Invest is that is this site is dedicated to safe investing and fraud prevention. It's run by Natalie from the Nova Scotia Securities commission and I love the simple straight forward content. New to my listBoomer and Echo – Not only is Boomer and Echo new to my list, but also new to blogging this year. A mother and son combo, they have come up with some great content. They are engaging and very active in the blogging community. BankNerd – Although this site focuses on the Canadian Banking industry, it does delve into other financial areas. Lots of great stuff here. Credit Cards Canada – I discovered this blog through twitter (@creditcardsCA) and enjoy the focus on information about the credit card industry. I like the niche perspective of the site along with some of the other bloggers that have made my list. Canadian Couch Potato – This site has a wealth of information on index investing and exchange traded funds. Dan, the man behind the blog, is a great writer with a real passion for low cost passive investing. I go to Dan often when I have a question on ETFs or index investing. Canadian Dream at 45 – This site comes from from Timothy Stobbs who aspires to retire at the age of 45. This site is not about get rich quick but rather a site about finding retirement and happiness at any age. Media BloggersWhen I think of media bloggers, I immediately think of the big three Rob Carrick, Jon Chevreau and Larry MacDonald. I make every effort to read the articles of these three knowledgeable gentlemen. Special thanks to Larry and Rob for featuring my book 10 Things I Wish Someone told me about retirement. Also look forward to my interview with Rob Carrick in his Let's Talk Investing series on the Globe's website. The best of everyoneSpecial mention should go out to the MoneyIndex.org site which is a great way to follow all of these great Canadian sites and others. The site lists a bunch of personal finance blogs with the 5 latest posts from each site. I frequent this site all the time when I need to get some information on any topic. That's it for 2010. Have a wonderful new year . . . see you next year! Related Posts:
