TODAY'S SUMMARY
The tuition fee hike will change the nature of education
11 November 2010
The anarchic behaviour of students protesting against the rise in tuition fees is counter-productive to their cause, says a Daily Telegrapheditorial. Meanwhile, in the Evening Standard, Richard Godwin argues that the tuition fee hike is part of a set of reforms that will change the very nature of education. Elsewhere, in the Times, Menzies Campbell criticises the latest defence review, which was conducted at breakneck speed and failed to establish a balance between foreign policy, military capability and the Budget. Over at the Guardian, Seumus Milne wonders whether the Palestinians of Israel are about to move centre stage with the two-state solution close to collapse. Finally, in the Huffington Post, Robert Reich maintains that the Republican proposal to extend the Bush tax cuts offers a chance for President Obama to take his first stand after the midterms.
