TODAY'S SUMMARY
Now more than ever, we need to tackle climate change
29 November 2010
A Guardian editorial states that although the political will to affect climate change has diminished since the fudged Copenhagen Summit, the need for action has not. Mary Ann Sieghart of the Independent argues in light of the Liberal Democrat rebellion over tuition fees, that party members' power must be limited to judging and electing leaders. In the Financial Times, former chancellor of the exchequer Alistair Darling asserts the need for stronger regulation of the financial sector from the Bank of England. Simon Wilson of the Times argues that instead of investing in old-style manufacturing, Britain requires infrastructural improvements and a skills-based, selective immigration policy. Finally, Peter McKay of the Daily Mail praises Wikileaks for combating the silence surrounding intelligence and enabling a new era of political transparency.
