TODAY'S SUMMARY
Coalition fails to heed the needs of voters
26 November 2010
Writing for the Times, David Willetts defends Cameron's plans for a happiness index, claiming that well-being and wealth are linked. In the Guardian, Martin Kettle sees the prices of train tickets as a driver of misery in Britain and an example of the coalition failing to heed the needs of voters. In the Times, Philip Collins argues that Ed Miliband can regain political momentum -- and media attention -- by focusing on an aggressively green agenda. An editorial in the Telegraph offers a defence of sorts to Howard Flight, thanking him for resurrecting the debate over child benefit cuts to higher-rate taxpayers. Away from British politics, B R Myers, writing in the New York Times, argues that North Korea's recent actions are not simply "provocation", but an aggression that is ideologically built in to the state.
