TODAY'S SUMMARY

Nato should seek a political solution in Afghanistan

22 November 2010

In the Times, Paddy Ashdown argues that instead of concerting their efforts on withdrawal from Afghanistan, Nato should instead be refocusing on seeking political solution. Katharine Birbalsingh of the Daily Telegraph asks where Kate and William will eventually send their children to school. In the Financial Times, Amartya Sen calls for economic sanctions on Burma to be reshaped in order to isolate the regime instead of the Burmese people. Over at the Guardian, Tom McNally states that human rights will not suffer under the coalition government, although he adds that there will be a review of the way that rights are protected in the UK. Finally, after Ireland accepted the terms of its financial bailout, Sean O'Grady of the Independent speculates that Portugal and Spain will be the next to go.
