In the Times, Anatole Kaletsky says that the eurozone crisis has enabled a great leap forward for European integration as Angela Merkel pushes for new powers. Meanwhile, in the New York Times, Thomas Friedman predicts that India will become the world's innovation hub in the next decade. Finally, in the Independent, Simon Carr says that austerity, rather than "shared history", has brought France and Britain closer together.
