The S&P 500 index clears the next hurdle of 1150 with 1173 clearly in sight. The week was made on Tuesday with the big move coming on the heals of positive economic data. Some volatility on Thursday and positive day on Friday sent the markets higher for the week. The belief in a positive earnngs season and modest economic growth are starting to take hold. Rhode Island: 10th State To Report Sept. Tax Gains

PROVIDENCE — “The amount of money the state pulls in from taxes has increased for three consecutive months — further evidence that Rhode Island's economy has begun to turn the corner, Governor Carcieri said Thursday.  For the three months ended Sept. 30, overall state tax revenue is up about 10.4 percent, or $54 million, compared with the same period a year ago, according to preliminary state estimates.
