TODAY'S SUMMARY

Danger lies in seeking closer ties with Moscow.

29 September 2010

In this morning's Independent, Mark Steel defends Ed Miliband against his critics, arguing unionists' votes are as legitimate as everyone else's. Also in the Independent, David Prosser suggests that the G20 are ignoring huge imbalances in the global economy. Over at the Guardian, Simon Tisdall warns about the dangers of seeking a better relationship with Moscow, pointing out that incidents such as Alexander Litvinenko's murder would have to be ignored. In the Times, Anthony Seldon argues that A-levels fail students, teachers and employers, with AQA admitting that the retake culture has undermined the qualifications' credibility. Finally, in the Wall Street Journal, Andy Kessler notes that firms have too much capital to generate returns on and says it's "time to hunker down and get back to basics".
