In the Guardian, however, Seumas Milne maintains that Ed Miliband and the Trade Union Congress are riding a wave of pressure for change as looming cuts start to weaken the coalition. Nick Clegg critiques the current welfare system in the Times, promising that the coalition's reforms will be aimed at reducing dependency and encouraging social mobility. Over in the Financial Times, Greg Mills argues that better politics, not an Iraq-style surge, is the only way to win the war in Afghanistan. Finally, in the Wall Street Journal, Karl Rove suggests that Obama has lost control of his presidency's narrative. It is too late to rectify this before the midterms.
