Seattle-based Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc. (RRGB) recently announced that it will open its first restaurant inside the Westfield Citrus Park shopping center at Tampa Bay area in Florida, in late August.  The company is also planning a restaurant for The Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel.
 
The new 7,203-square-foot Tampa restaurant will seat 243 guests. The opening of this restaurant will create more than 100 new jobs in the area.

The Houston-based oilfield services company, Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) has received a letter of intent (LOI) from Shell Iraq Petroleum Development BV to develop the Majnoon field in Southern Iraq.
Under the terms of the agreement, Halliburton will serve as project manager for the development and will work in association with rig contractor Nabors Industries Ltd. (NYSE:NBR) and Iraq Drilling Company ("IDC"). However, the contract needs final approval from the Iraqi authorities.

Half A Million Initial Jobless Claims

Initial Claims for Unemployment Insurance rose by 12,000 in the last week to 500,000. This is bad news. The four-week average (see graph below from http://www.calculatedriskblog.com/) rose by 8,000 to 482,500. That is more bad news.

After declining sharply in the second half of last year, initial jobless claims have been in a tight "trading range." They are now breaking out to the upside, which is not at all what we need to see happening.
