| We must aid the struggle of Chinese workers
06 August 2010 The fight of Chinese workers for basic rights is a not a distant struggle but one that every consumer in the west can aid, writes Johann Hari in the Independent. Elsewhere, in the Times, Caroline Flint argues against David Cameron's plan to end council homes for life and says that the real problem is the lack of affordable housing. In the Washington Post, David Ignatius says that Obama's decision to engage with Iran is odd at a time when many analysts are debating the growing risks of a military confrontation. In the Guardian, Laila el-Haddad writes that David Cameron's description of Gaza as a "prison camp"was an understatement. Unlike Gazans, prisoners are at least guaranteed access to electricity, water and even education. Finally, in the Financial Times, Alan Davey says that private donations to the arts should enhance public funding, not replace it.
